1. Who is responsible
The data controller is glashaus. For anything about your data write to hello@glashaus.me.
2. What this policy covers
It explains what we collect on glashaus.me and in the glashaus app, why, with whom we share it and for how long, for tenants and for owners.
3. What we collect
- Browsing without an account: your saved homes, saved searches, region and language stay in your browser. They are not sent to us.
- Technical data: IP address, approximate location (country and city), browser, device and the pages opened. The IP address is kept 30 days to keep the service secure; after that only anonymous visit statistics remain.
- Live chat: your messages, the listing codes you mention and, if you give them, your name and phone number.
- App account and viewings: phone number, name, e-mail, the viewings you book and the answers you choose to share with the owner (who will live in the home, pets, work situation, guarantor, when you want to move).
- Owners: identity document, proof of ownership, contact details and the listing content.
- Reports and complaints you send us.
We do not collect tenants’ identity documents, payslips, bank details or payments.
4. Why we use it
- To show homes and remember your choices on your device (the service you ask for).
- To arrange the viewings you book and pass your answers to that owner (performance of a contract, GDPR art. 6(1)(b)).
- To verify owners and keep false listings off the site (legitimate interest in a safe catalogue and legal obligations under the Digital Services Act, GDPR art. 6(1)(c) and (f)).
- To answer you in the chat and handle reports and complaints (legitimate interest and legal obligation).
- To keep the service secure and prevent fraud (legitimate interest).
- To count visits and see which links bring people to the site, in our own statistics (legitimate interest; audience measurement exempt from consent).
- To meet tax, accounting and legal requests from the authorities (legal obligation).
We do not sell personal data, do not build advertising profiles and make no decisions about you by automated means alone.
6. How long we keep it
- Browser data: until you clear it.
- IP addresses in technical logs: 30 days; anonymous visit statistics: 13 months.
- Chat: 24 months after the last message.
- App account: until you delete it; viewing bookings: 24 months after the viewing.
- Owners’ verification documents: while the listing is online, then deleted, unless the law or an open dispute requires longer.
- Reports and decisions about listings: as long as needed to handle them and any appeal.
7. Your rights
You can access, correct and delete your data, export it, restrict or object to its use and withdraw consent at any time (GDPR, articles 15–22). Write to hello@glashaus.me or use Profile → Privacy in the app; we answer within one month.
In Italy the GDPR applies together with the Personal Data Protection Code (Legislative Decree 196/2003).
8. Cookies and storage
The website uses only the storage it needs to work: your saved list, region, language and the welcome card, plus two first-party cookies for our own visit statistics: a random visitor number (12 months) and, if you came through a link from our team, its code (30 days). They are not shared with anyone and are not used for advertising, so they need no consent and there is no cookie banner. To object, turn on Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track in your browser: your visits are then counted without these cookies and without your IP address.
This follows the Garante’s cookie guidelines of 10 June 2021.
9. Security
Data travels encrypted (HTTPS), access is limited to the people who need it, and we review that access regularly.
10. Children
glashaus is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data of people under 18.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. For important changes we tell you in the app before they take effect. The date at the top shows the current version.
